What are transfer boards used for?
Transfer boards are boards on which a person slides from one surface to another: from bed to wheelchair, from wheelchair to toilet or car, and back again. They can be used independently or with the help of one or more carers.
They are designed for older people and people with disabilities who have limited mobility in their lower limbs. The handles and the non-slip surface make the transfer more controlled, and the surface is easy to wash. Every Scangliss model can bridge a height difference of up to 15 cm and a gap of up to 20 cm between the two surfaces.
Scangliss boards are radiolucent, which is why they also appear among our products for diagnostic imaging. The website of INAIL, the Italian national workplace injury insurance institute, provides information on preventing the risks that staff face when moving and handling patients.
What is the difference between Lite and Plus transfer boards?
The Lite series has padded handles, high-frequency welding that makes it waterproof and a maximum load of 250 kg; the Plus series has flame-retardant ABS handles that can be removed by undoing the screws, and a maximum load of 300 kg.

How to choose between transfer boards
Start from the person's weight and the type of handle you prefer, then choose the format according to where you will use and store the board.
Maximum load
Up to 250 kg with the Lite series, up to 300 kg with the Plus series.
Handles
Padded on the Lite series; flame-retardant ABS and removable on the Plus series, which helps when the handles get in the way.
Format
Rigid, folding or mini: ask us for the data sheet to check the dimensions and footprint of each version.
If the person cannot take part in the transfer or needs to be lifted, a board is not enough: consider our patient hoists with slings. If you are caring for a family member at home, the page for private customers explains how we supply mobility aids and provide technical support at home.
