Electric paediatric hospital beds
Novamed paediatric hospital beds are designed for general and specialist paediatric wards: electric adjustment, a platform that extends as the child grows, protective side rails and a self-charging battery for power cuts.
- Extendable platform
- Made to order and to measure
- Delivery throughout Italy
What do paediatric hospital beds need?
A bed for children has to suit patients of very different sizes, protect them from falls and allow staff to position them precisely: an extendable platform, safe side rails and electric controls meet these needs.
On our paediatric hospital beds the mattress platform extends manually from 160 to 190 cm on the K024 and Bambino models, so the same bed can accommodate children of different ages. The controls are grouped in a panel built into the footboard or, on the STR MK21, in the head section.
The ABS surfaces, radiolucent on the K024 and Bambino models, are easy to clean and allow X-ray examinations without moving the child.

Are there paediatric hospital beds with isolation?
Yes: the STR MK 9 is an electric paediatric bed with an isolation unit and HEPA-ULPA filtration, also suitable for intensive care, anaesthesia and resuscitation.
The bed has a three-section thermoformed ABS platform, height-adjustable base and electric movements driven by LINAK motors, operated from the keypad in the side rail at the foot end. The isolation unit, with an aluminium frame and medical-grade PVC, has airtight zips on both sides, replaceable long-sleeved gloves and ports for ECG cables. The three-stage U15-grade HEPA-ULPA filters are tested for a minimum of 720 hours of continuous operation, and the motor has a backup battery.
You will find the full data sheet among our biocontainment devices. Novamed took part in the 44th ESPID Meeting in Bologna, dedicated to paediatric infectious diseases.
How do you choose between paediatric hospital beds?
Consider how many adjustments need to be electric, the minimum platform height, the tilt required and whether CPR is needed; for infectious or immunocompromised patients, consider the bed with biocontainment.
Electric adjustments
The K024 / ST also motorises the Trendelenburg; on the K024 / E-3M it uses a gas spring. The STR MK21 adds knee adjustment and an electric Fowler position.
Height and tilt
The K024 / E-3M lowers to 40 cm; the K024 / ST and Bambino range from 48 to 87 cm. Trendelenburg reaches 16° on the K024 / ST and 12° on the K024 / E-3M.
Safety
Slow-descent side rails and castors with an alarm on the STR MK21; castors with locking on all models; a battery for power cuts on the K024 and Bambino models.
