Gel surgical positioners for the head, face and neck
Headrests, rings and thyroid systems in high-density polyurethane gel: the surgical positioners supplied by Novamed S.R.L. stabilise the patient's head and distribute weight to reduce the risk of pressure ulcers.

What are gel surgical positioners used for?
They hold the head, face and neck in the position required for the procedure and spread the load over a wide surface, limiting pressure points during the hours in which the anaesthetised patient cannot move.
High-density polyurethane gel
All models are made of amorphous polyurethane gel with a density of 0.99 g/cm³. The gel adapts to the patient's shape and distributes weight evenly.
Preventing pressure ulcers
A pressure ulcer forms when tissue remains compressed for a long time between a bony prominence and the supporting surface, reducing blood flow. A surface that distributes weight evenly lowers the pressure at critical points.
Guidance on patient safety in the operating theatre and on preventing adverse events is available on the website of the Italian Ministry of Health. Below you will find our surgical positioners grouped by patient position and type of procedure.
Surgical positioners for the prone patient
They keep the head and neck in the prone position throughout the procedure. Several surgical positioners in this series provide easier access for intubation and airway management.

Prone headrest
The basic model for the prone position, with access for intubation. Available in two sizes: 23 x 19 x 13 cm and 28 x 23 x 14.5 cm.

Two-way prone headrest
Two openings for passing the tube and monitoring the airway; the ergonomic profile keeps the head stable throughout the procedure.

2-way prone headrest
A two-way variant of the AP811 series, with an ergonomic design giving access for intubation during the procedure.

Four-way prone headrest
The four-way design widens access for intubation and airway management while keeping the head in the prone position.

Adult/paediatric prone headrest
Designed to suit patients of different sizes, from adults to children, with easier access for intubation.

2-piece adjustable prone headrest
The two pieces can be adjusted to fit the support to the patient's shape and to the surgeon's requirements, whatever the patient's size.

Adjustable prone headrest with mirror
The built-in mirror makes it possible to check the face, eyes and position of the endotracheal tube without lifting the head, and makes it easier to reposition the head.
Supine, universal and face surgical positioners
A supine patient needs supports that cradle the back of the head and keep the neck aligned; the face rest, on the other hand, protects the forehead from the ventilation tube.

Anatomical supine headrest
An anatomical shape that follows the contour of the head and neck and maintains a stable position throughout every stage of the procedure.

Flat universal headrest
A flat surface suitable for many procedures and different body types. Sizes available: 25 x 18 x 3 cm, 25 x 23 x 6 cm and 45 x 15 x 10 cm.

Headrest with central recess
The central recess adapts to the shape of the skull and provides secure support. Two sizes: 25 x 25 x 6 cm and 30 x 30 x 6 cm.

Stabilising headrest
Designed to hold the head and neck in the chosen position and limit their movement during every stage of the procedure.

Bubble face rest
The gel bubbles rest on the forehead and protect it from the pressure of the oxygen tube during mechanical ventilation.
Surgical positioners for ophthalmic procedures
Two shaped surgical positioners for ophthalmic surgery, designed to keep the head stable during the operation.

Heart-shaped headrest – ophthalmic
The heart shape wraps around the back of the head and supports the head, neck and face in a comfortable, stable position.

Thornton-style shaped ophthalmic headrest
A Thornton-inspired shape for ophthalmic procedures: it fixes the patient's position and improves the surgeon's working conditions.
Rings and horseshoe: which shape to choose?
The closed ring surrounds the head completely; the open ring and the horseshoe leave a gap that makes intubation easier. All three surgical positioners are available in several sizes.

Closed ring headrest
Full protection for the head, neck and face. Four sizes: 9 x 4 x 2, 14 x 6 x 3.5, 20 x 7.5 x 4.5 and 20 x 7.5 x 7.5 cm.

Open ring headrest
Reinforced on the back with a thin polyurethane film; the opening makes intubation easier. Available in the same four sizes as the closed ring.

Horseshoe headrest
An open shape that leaves room for airway manoeuvres. Three sizes: 9 x 4 x 2, 14 x 6 x 3.5 and 20 x 7.5 x 4.5 cm.
Surgical positioners for the thyroid and neck
In neck surgery, and in particular thyroid surgery, the head must be extended and supported to expose the operating field.

Positioner for the thyroid gland, head and neck
The built-in neck support encourages extension of the head and improves the surgeon's access to the operating area.

Positioning system for the thyroid gland, head and neck
A system designed to protect and stabilise the delicate areas of the neck throughout the surgical procedure.
