What are patient hoists?
Patient hoists are mast-type aids with a wheeled base and a spreader bar to which a sling is attached: they allow a carer to lift and move a person with limited use of the lower limbs, for example from the bed to a wheelchair, a commode chair or the toilet.
All manoeuvres are carried out by the carer, who controls raising and lowering with the handset and steers the hoist using the handles on the mast. This way the transfer takes place without lifting the person's weight by hand, which benefits the safety of both the patient and the carer. The website of INAIL, the Italian national institute for insurance against workplace accidents, provides information material on the manual handling of loads and patients.
The patient hoists we offer work with a sling chosen according to the type of transfer: this is why this page covers both the hoists and the compatible slings.
Our patient hoists
Two electric models with a painted steel frame, an emergency stop button and emergency lowering systems.

Lifty 4 / 4E folding hoist
A passive hoist with a folding painted steel frame, suitable for home and hospital use. When folded it takes up little space and is easy to transport. On the standard version the base opens and closes with a pedal; on the Lifty 4E version opening is assisted by an electric system.
- Maximum load 200 kg, weight 44 kg
- Internal base width (open/closed) 90 / 52 cm; external 104 / 65 cm; length 136 cm
- Spreader bar height from 66 to 171 cm; base height 9–13 cm
- LINAK control box with wired handset, sealed 12V batteries and charger included
- 4-point spreader bar with anti-slip sling attachment, red mushroom emergency stop button, mechanical and electronic emergency lowering
- 4 castors, brakes on the two rear castors

Evolution hoist
A hoist with a painted steel frame and a removable control box on the mast, which incorporates a carrying handle. The base legs are spread with a lever and rest on 4 swivel castors, the 2 rear ones with a parking brake.
- Maximum load 160 kg, weight 38 kg
- Width 62 cm, length 116 cm
- Height to the bar from 69 to 170 cm; base height 9 cm
- Base width from 51 cm (closed) to 90 cm (open)

- Spreader bar with 4 anti-slip sling attachments, red mushroom emergency stop button, mechanical emergency lowering (power failure) and electronic emergency lowering (handset fault)
Slings for patient hoists
The sling supports the person during lifting and should be chosen according to the transfer to be carried out. For safety reasons, slings should be replaced every 3 years.

Deluxe 300 sling without head support
Used with a hoist to move the patient from sitting to lying and vice versa. Available in two versions, mesh or PVC, with a load capacity of 300 kg.

Universal sling with head support
Allows transfers from sitting to lying and vice versa. The head support holds the back of the neck and prevents inappropriate movement of the cervical spine. This is the sling recommended for use with the Lifty 4.

Toilet sling
Designed to transfer a disabled or older person from a wheelchair to the toilet. It is made of waterproof PVC, easy to put on, remove and clean, with adjustable straps, and is available in several sizes. Maximum load 200 kg.
How to choose between patient hoists
Consider the person's weight, the space available and the transfers to be carried out: the Lifty 4 takes up to 200 kg and folds, while the Evolution has a load capacity of 160 kg and a more compact base.
Load capacity
Check that the load capacity of the hoist and the sling is suitable for the person: 200 kg for the Lifty 4, 160 kg for the Evolution.
Space
Check the passageways between bed, wheelchair and bathroom against the length and width of the base, both open and closed.
Sling
With head support if the head needs to be supported, without head support for sitting-to-lying transfers, and a toilet sling for personal hygiene.
When the person can cooperate and the height difference is small, a board may be enough: compare patient hoists with our Scangliss transfer boards. For families we also offer technical support: our technicians carry out maintenance and repair of mobility aids at home, as described on the page for private customers.
